Chert

active SaaS (API Platform)

iMessage infrastructure for reaching people at scale.

Chert is an iMessage infrastructure platform that provides APIs and workflow tools for businesses to send, receive, route, and automate real iMessage conversations, including AI-powered customer support, lead engagement, and outbound workflows.

What is Chert?

Chert provides infrastructure for businesses that want to build conversational experiences directly on Apple's iMessage channel. The platform exposes APIs and workflow primitives for sending and receiving iMessages, routing replies, monitoring message status, managing phone-number pools, and connecting conversations to existing business systems. A major component of Chert is its AI-agent infrastructure. Businesses can configure and deploy AI agents that live directly inside iMessage conversations. Agents can handle inbound customer questions, qualify leads, follow up with prospects, book meetings, and perform other conversational workflows. Chert's messaging layer supports real iMessage conversations with the native blue-bubble experience. When a recipient cannot receive iMessage, the platform can fall back to SMS or RCS and exposes the channel status through its API. The platform maintains conversation context, including typing indicators, reactions, reply context, delivery receipts, and webhook events. This allows AI agents and human operators to participate in the same conversation without losing the thread. Chert supports multi-recipient conversations and named senders, enabling businesses to create group-based workflows and clean handoffs between AI agents, human representatives, and other systems. Businesses can also attach useful context to conversations, including PDFs, decks, links, and other files. This makes the messaging channel suitable for workflows where a customer needs to receive information or documents as part of the interaction. For integrations, Chert provides REST APIs and webhooks that allow conversations to connect with CRM systems, sales tools, voice agents, calendars, and internal databases. Native integrations include common CRM and workflow use cases such as lead creation, meeting booking, and opt-out handling. Chert is also expanding beyond text messaging. Its current product lineup includes a FaceTime agent platform that is designed to let AI agents handle visual video conversations, although the FaceTime product is currently in controlled private preview rather than general availability.
