What is Stellary?

Stellary is an AI-native project management and delivery platform designed for teams that want humans and AI agents to operate inside the same project workspace. The platform combines conventional project-management capabilities such as projects, roadmaps, Kanban boards, cards, priorities, checklists, documents, comments, milestones, and dashboards with AI agents that can be assigned and executed directly from project work. A Stellary project brings together goals, roadmap, cards, documents, team members, AI agents, activity, and project context. This creates a shared operational environment instead of separating project management from AI assistants and execution tools. The primary unit of work is the card. Cards can contain descriptions, checklists, comments, linked documents, assignees, acceptance criteria, and an AI mission. A card can therefore function both as a traditional project-management task and as an executable mission for an AI agent. Stellary's AI agents are configurable teammates rather than simple chatbots. Each agent can have a role, rules, tools, project scope, and an autonomy level. Teams can choose whether an agent works autonomously on routine tasks, requires approval for sensitive actions, or only proposes changes for human review. The AI mission workflow connects project management directly to execution. A team member can prepare a card, provide the required context, assign an agent, launch the mission, monitor its activity, answer questions, inspect results, and approve the work. Stellary keeps the execution trail attached to the project work. Agent questions, actions, progress, errors, proposals, results, and approvals can remain visible through the card's Activity surface rather than disappearing into a separate AI conversation. The platform also provides AI Workflows for multi-step execution. Teams can define sequences containing specialized agents, deterministic steps, dependencies, quality checks, correction loops, notifications, and human approval gates. This allows repeatable agentic processes to be applied across project cards. For example, a workflow can start from a project card, send the work to one agent for framing, another for implementation, a third for quality inspection, run correction loops if required, and stop for human approval before the final action is completed. The Cockpit provides a higher-level operational view of project state. Teams can compose dashboards around active missions, risks, blockers, priorities, decisions, approvals, agent activity, and project momentum without relying entirely on manually prepared status reports. Stellary also treats project documentation as durable context. Documents can contain briefs, decisions, architecture, notes, requirements, and references, while cards connect that information to specific pieces of work. Semantic search and contextual retrieval allow both humans and agents to work from the same project knowledge. The platform supports integrations with AI coding and productivity environments including Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Claude Desktop, LM Studio, and AnythingLLM. Agents can operate through a local runner, MCP, or compatible local model server depending on the workflow. Stellary provides a native MCP server at api.stellary.co/mcp. MCP clients can connect to live project data and use the same governed workspace context available to Stellary agents. The MCP implementation supports Streamable HTTP and uses authenticated access with workspace permissions. A separate REST API exposes resources for authentication, organizations, workspaces, projects, cards, documents, agents, runtime, pilotage, platform extensions, and billing. This makes Stellary usable both as a project-management application and as a programmable project-delivery system. Governance is a central part of Stellary's AI architecture. Agents can operate under different autonomy levels, with permissions, tool access, approval policies, and activity history determining what they are allowed to do. Sensitive operations can remain proposals until a human explicitly approves them. The platform is currently in open beta. During the beta, the complete application is available free of charge without requiring a credit card. Stellary states that a broad free plan will remain after beta, while future paid plans are expected to add capacity such as additional seats, agents, workspaces, and compute. The current free plan provides one workspace, five projects, ten members, eight AI agents, 50 documents, five custom fields, five automations, 700 AI credits per month, and two included seats. An invitation-only Beta Tester plan provides substantially higher limits.
